"What I see in my children is not simply growth in knowledge and skill, but the beautiful influence their teachers have brought into their lives"
“Especially in childhood, before a child has fully developed the ability to discern things independently, the influence of a teacher matters enormously. One life shapes another. To decide whom you entrust your child to is to decide whose influence they will receive. Some teachers may appear to teach with great intensity, but in fact they are drawing too heavily on the child, pushing too many techniques at a time when the real need is to build inner strength and foundations. The cost is often a lack of long-term stamina. What is rare, and precious, are teachers with depth, life experience, and a genuine love of education — teachers who know how to shape classroom interaction from the child’s point of view, who control pace and rhythm perfectly, who are unhurried, not driven by short-term gains, and who influence like spring rain, quietly and naturally, leaving almost no visible trace of teaching behind. That is one of the highest forms of education. Since my children began studying at TL, every teacher they have encountered has been remarkably good. What I see in my children is not simply growth in knowledge and skill, but the beautiful influence their teachers have brought into their lives. After a period of learning, it naturally begins to show. As a parent, it fills my heart with joy and gratitude.”

"Something remarkable happened. While I was listening to Mr Moore’s guided reading of War Horse, my child sat quietly beside me, completely absorbed"
“As for the effect of guided reading, I personally care more about what is internalised than what can be immediately quantified. The first guided reading lesson we joined was War Horse last year. To be honest, I originally bought the course for myself, because I loved the book. At the time, my child had only just begun reading chapter books, and in both age and vocabulary he was nowhere near the suggested level for War Horse, which I remember was said to be suitable for children aged ten and above. But then something remarkable happened. While I was listening to Mr Moore’s guided reading of War Horse, my child sat quietly beside me, completely absorbed. At one point I left to take an urgent phone call, and when I came back I found that he had turned off the speaker, put on headphones, and was listening on his own. From that point onward, the War Horse guided reading course belonged entirely to him — I never got to listen again. I too wondered how much such a young child could really understand. But for a child that young, to keep asking what exactly he had learned, or which new words he had acquired, seemed beside the point. So I stopped asking those questions. I asked only: ‘Did you enjoy it? Would you like to keep listening?’ And the answer was yes. So after that, we joined every season.”.”

"Do you know what my child said? They told me that in TL’s lessons, they could ‘live in the story’"
“I once asked my child what the difference was between listening to the Amazon audiobook and listening to TL’s guided reading lessons. Do you know what my child said? They told me that in TL’s lessons, they could ‘live in the story’. That alone made it worthwhile. And hearing that answer made me understand something more deeply: TL’s teachers really do have that rare gift. They understand children — and that matters enormously. When a child already feels something, they know exactly how to deepen that feeling at just the right moment. I feel it is not only worthwhile, but precious — something rare and not easily found.”

"Listening to Mr Moore tell stories alongside my child has itself become one of our treasured memories"
“Thank you to Mr Moore for his brilliant interpretation of Holes. Just like The Butterfly Lion, it was full of vivid imagery. Put before a child or an adult without guidance, this book might not necessarily seem appealing. We had passed it many times in bookshops without either my child or me feeling inclined even to open it. But once Mr Moore began guiding us through it, we were immediately drawn in. The plot was so cleverly layered, one link leading to the next, with no detail written casually or without purpose. The twists and turns were full of surprise. No wonder it is considered a modern classic of children’s literature. It reminded me of listening to traditional storytelling with my grandfather when I was young. Listening to Mr Moore tell stories alongside my child has itself become one of our treasured memories”

"The lesson sparked such an interest in reading that my child went on to finish the entire Harry Potter series "
“We had already read Harry Potter ten times, but listening to guided reading is simply not the same as reading it oneself. Later, the Headmaster even added a question-and-answer session. The lesson sparked such an interest in reading that my child went on to finish the entire Harry Potter series in one go and discussed it with me enthusiastically afterwards. To be honest, with so many words, I had never managed to read it myself.”

"They spark genuine interest and increase my child’s enthusiasm for English"
“The guided reading classes make learning enjoyable. They spark genuine interest and increase my child’s enthusiasm for English. Whenever the teacher mentions other books, my child asks to buy them and read them independently. Every day, my child sits there early, waiting for the lesson to begin. I have not yet seen another institution able to achieve this. Only TL”

" a classroom one can only describe as truly captivating"
“It is no exaggeration to say that Mr Moore’s guided reading lessons are truly exceptional — the best classes I have ever attended, without question. There is no need for rote memorisation, and yet his lessons stay vividly in the mind, returning to me several times a day afterwards. Some difficult vocabulary is explained so clearly through his gestures and spoken explanation that it becomes instantly understandable. I imagine that this rare ability to make things clear with just a light touch comes from the combination of who Mr Moore is: a native English speaker, an Oxford graduate, someone with 25 years of teaching experience, and a former Headmaster of a top British prep school. All of this comes together to create a classroom unlike any other — a classroom one can only describe as truly captivating.”
